Global Leadership and Honors for Dr. A K Grover

We are proud to share the remarkable achievements of our Founder and Chairman, Dr. A K Grover, in recent international ophthalmic events, reaffirming Vision Eye Centre’s commitment to global excellence in eye care.

1. Global Consensus on Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)
   As the General Secretary of the World Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (WSOPRAS), Dr. Grover spearheaded the creation of a Global Consensus Statement on Thyroid Eye Disease. This historic document was co-authored with five of the world’s leading experts and includes input from 41 major global Oculoplastic societies.
   Released at the WSOPRAS Biennial Meeting in Istanbul (April 10–13, 2025), the consensus outlines a comprehensive, globally adaptable strategy for the diagnosis and management of TED, tailored to diverse healthcare systems worldwide. The statement is set to be published in leading ophthalmic journals following circulation to all member societies.

2. Honored at the APAO Congress 2025
At the recently concluded Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress held in New Delhi (April 3–6, 2025), Dr. Grover was recognized with three prestigious accolades:

• Asia-Pacific Eye 100 (2025)
  Dr. Grover has been named one of the top 100 most influential and inspiring ophthalmologists and visual scientists in the Asia-Pacific region—a rare distinction he also received in 2023. This honor, conferred jointly by APAO, the Academy of Asia-Pacific Professors of Ophthalmology (AAPPO), and the Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology (APJO), reflects a rigorous and highly selective process.

• Prof. L.P. Agarwal Endowment Lecture (2025)
  A distinguished lecture awarded by the All India Ophthalmological Society, recognizing Dr. Grover’s outstanding contributions to Indian ophthalmology and academic leadership.

• Senior Achievement Award (APAO)
  Honoring Dr. Grover’s sustained and significant impact on scientific and academic progress in ophthalmology across the Asia-Pacific region.

• 

In addition, Dr. Grover played a pivotal role in the APAO Congress as Coordinator of the Oculoplastics Program, chairing three sessions, conducting an Instruction Course, and delivering eight invited talks.
